As the world's leading supplier with the widest range of polyamide materials and an innovative development partner with exceptional customer service, EMS-GRIVORY impressed once again at the annual I&C symposium, presenting numerous innovations and further development of proven high-performance materials.
At the 22nd SPE Automotive Award Night of the the Society of Plastics Engineers, EMS-GRIVORY was once again among the award winners - three times! The award-winning applications made of EMS high-performance plastics shows again, how innovative solutions are created in close collaboration with customers, enabling them to save costs and weight.
The requirements for plastic materials in medical devices are governed by various standards and regulations to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of these devices. The specific requirements may vary depending on the type of medical device, its intended use, and the regulatory jurisdiction. Safety for patients and users is the primary requirement for medical devices.
For many years, ski touring and off-piste skiing have enjoyed increasing popularity and are establishing themselves as emerging trend sports. EMS-GRIVORY has proven to be extremely successful in this area, offering a wide range of Grilamid PA12 special grades. Given the growing need not only to offer the best material properties, but also to minimise the ecological footprint of the products, EMS-GRIVORY now presents tailor-made PA610 products with outstanding property profiles for this special niche market.
EMS-GRIVORY, the leading company and pioneer in the development of polyamides, is presenting a wide range of varied high-performance polymers, especially developed to meet the requirements of electromobility, at the Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (Stand B2-2113) from October 17 – 21, 2023.
The Swedish innovation company Nilar, relies on flame-retardant partially aromatic polyamides from EMS-GRIVORY for structurally stressed end plates in its electricity storage systems.
Problems in medical technology are extremely varied, and this also applies to the different treatment and analysis equipment. Many of the devices used require transparent materials. Requirements with regard to repeated sterilization, however, severely restrict the choice of transparent polymers. The new Grilamid TR HT 200 is a real all-rounder - it can be steam sterilized many times at temperatures of 134°C and is resistant to disinfectants.
In a world where aesthetics and design are of increasing importance, we would like to put Grivory G7V in the spotlight: This brand new high-performance polyamide not only gives visible components a decorative and stylish surface but at the same time, also protects them from scratching and the effect of chemicals. What makes Grivory G7V special is that it makes it glass-fibre reinforced composites with perfect high-gloss surfaces possible.
At the last SPE Automotive Award Night of the «Society of Plastics Engineers», EMS-GRIVORY was once again among the award winners − three times! The award-winning applications made of EMS high-performance polymers show once again how close customer cooperation can lead to innovative solutions that allow customers to save costs and weight.
The integral sustainability strategy chosen by EMS includes the use of environmentally friendly energy sources in production, such as hydropower and biomass, the development of innovative materials and the provision of sustainable polymers to its customers. This has the potential to reduce the environmental footprint.
The energy supply situation in Europe is an issue for concern and is driving up costs for electricity and natural gas. From August 2021 until August 2022 the electricity prices in Switzerland and Germany increased by more than 550% (Fig. 1). This dramatic increase in energy costs is forcing manufacturers to analyse and optimize their complete energy management in production.
The interior finishing of cars makes a significant contribution to the desired premium driving experience. A range of completely different approaches to development of interior design concepts can be found here. Regardless of whether an elegant, high-quality appearance or a dynamic, young design is aimed for, Grilamid TR makes it possible to realise future-oriented interior design concepts. With the high-performance polymer, Grilamid TR, the perfect high-quality surface finish without lacquer is maintained throughout the vehicle's whole lifespan.
EMS-GRIVORY is market leader in the field of transparent high-performance polyamides under the collective trade name Grilamid TR. In medical technology Grilamid TR products are used as they combine crystal-clear transparency with good resistance to chemicals and breakage. The latest supplement to this comprehensive assortment is Grilamid TR FE 11292 (TR HT 200), the first transparent polymer in the world which can be sterilised repeatedly at 134°C using steam sterilisation processes.
The International Society for Plastics Technology once again presented its coveted awards for the most innovative plastics applications in the automotive industry at the 21st SPE Award Night on October 17, 2022 in Düsseldorf/Neuss. Three applications made from EMS materials were honored with the prestigious awards.
EMS-GRIVORY celebrates success with the Mountain Slope snowboard boot at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Crucial to this resounding success is the unique EMS plastic. Five out of six medal winners in the snowboard parallel slalom wore the boot made by the company from Val Müstair.
At the 20th SPE Award Night on August 5, 2021 in Dusseldorf/Neuss (Germany), the Society of Plastics Engineers again presented their coveted awards for the most innovative polymer applications in the automotive industry. Four applications using EMS materials received one of these highly prestigious awards.
Polymers can be used in a myriad of different ways. Due to their low weight and ease of processing, for example, they not only make work easier in general, but also are also incredibly safe when used by patients and medical personnel due to being absolutely resistant to breakage. Used for disposable products such as syringes, containers, catheters, and respiratory masks, they are indispensable given the high hygiene requirements in hospitals. But nowadays, medical instruments for use during surgery and even prostheses are made of polymers. In addition, polymers can be manufactured in almost any colour, which makes it easier to distinguish between similar-looking products and prevents confusion. Specialty polymers, all of which are adapted to their specific purpose, have found their way into healthcare technology.
Grivory HT6 is preferably used in automotive engineering, where cost-effectively produced lightweight components can be used as metal replacement. This allows cost savings to be achieved, for example through lower wall thicknesses, while the high-performance polymer remains resistant even at extremely high temperatures. It is this maintained resistance which makes it possible to use the material in metal replacement applications and allows cost savings to be achieved.
Insulating high-voltage (HV) components for electric automobile drive systems is no mean feat, due to new challenges during processing and increasing stipulations regarding the materials used. What’s more, car manufacturers are only too aware that electrical vehicles which are more powerful, lightweight and compact in their design are also more popular with customers. Accordingly, this makes a well-designed electronic power system and thin-walled components that can be used safely at high voltages indispensable. The new high-performance polymer, Grilamid TR XE 10991, combines excellent insulation behaviour under extreme external conditions with straightforward processing for the manufacture of HV components. Flame retardancy requirements for flat conductor sheathing for e-mobility applications are also fulfilled.
Less than two years ago, a new production line for the manufacture of high-performance polymers started operations at the Domat/Ems (CH) production site, following a construction period of only eight months. This was just the start of a large-scale investment plan.
