Efficient metal replacement with Grivory

Metal replacement with Grivory enables cost reductions of up to 50 % and weight savings of up to 70 %, while maintaining the same level of performance, safety, and service life. In hybrid components, the respective strengths of the materials are are optimally utilized: metal in areas that cannot be replaced due to technical requirements, and Grivory in areas focused on weight reduction, functional integration, and cost efficiency. Injection molding allows the realization of complex geometries, integrated functions, and ready-to-assemble solutions. Time-consuming post-processing steps such as deburring, turning, milling, painting, as well as corrosion issues, are eliminated when using Grivory.
 

Metal replacement with Grivory in practice

An impressive example of successful metal replacement is the ABS solenoid valve for trucks braking systems. This safety-relevant component was converted from aluminum to Grivory and delivers outstanding reliability at significantly lower cost. The component weight was reduced by around one third, while manufacturing costs decreased by approximately 30 %. Thanks to energy-efficient processing, up to 25 % energy savings can also be achieved, and the CO₂ footprint is reduced by about 60 %. At the same time, the ABS solenoid valve meets the highest safety requirements and clearly exceeds the required service life with several million braking cycles. This is clear evidence that Grivory can replace metal even in safety-relevant applications.

In addition to the economic benefits, sustainability plays a key role. The use of bio-based and certified sustainable raw materials makes a significant contribution to reducing emissions across the entire product life cycle.
