Concentration by EMS-EFTEC on direct supply to automotive manufacturers worldwide
The EMS Group with global activities in the business areas Performance Polymers and Fine Chemicals / Engineering and with its companies combined in EMSCHEMIE HOLDING AG, has sold its subsidiary, EFTEC Aftermarket GmbH, which is active in the field of the automotive aftermarket and located in Lügde (D), to the Dutch company Facilitas Bergeyk B.V. (FACILITAS) based in Bergeijk (NL) for a high single-digit Euro million figure. Transfer of ownership has been carried out yesterday evening. The purchaser has taken over the production site and the logistics centre in Lügde (D) as well as the 61 employees working there.
With this acquisition the privately-owned Dutch company FACILITAS significantly expands its business in anti-corrosion, sealants and adhesives for the automotive aftermarket. EMS and FACILITAS have entered into a long-term supply agreement for windscreen adhesives used in the repair market. EMS-EFTEC will continue to supply FACILITAS with windscreen adhesives from Romanshorn (CH). The complete transaction will have an effect of around CHF 25 million on the consolidated annual net sales of the EMS Group.
The Business Unit EMS-EFTEC, which belongs to the strategic main business area Performance Polymers, is worldwide leader with materials and application technology for the special applications bonding, coating, sealing and damping for the worldwide automotive industry. Following this sale of the aftermarket business, EMS-EFTEC is focusing now exclusively on its successful business with automotive manufacturers (OEM business). Already today 610 employees at 14 locations are active in this business with the worldwide presence being continually expanded over the last years. In this way, new EFTEC plants in Western China, India and Rumania were started up in 2009 and a new plant will open shortly in Brazil.
